ORDELA, Inc. was formed in 1984 to provide specialized products, services, and systems for the scientific and industrial research community. ORDELA, Inc. produces a line of positionsensitive proportional counter systems for the detection of xrays, neutrons, and charged particles, and provides custommade radiation detection instruments. Key staff members are Manfred K. Kopp, President and Daniel M. Kopp, Technical Director. Manfred K. Kopp is a measurement scientist with over 30 years of experience in the field of nuclear instrumentation. He cofounded ORDELA after retirement from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory ORNL where he was a Senior Development Staff Member in the Instrumentation and Controls Division. He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Buenos Aires University of Argentina and the University of Tennessee, a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, and is a Registered Professional Engineer. At ORNL, he pioneered the development of RCencoded, positionsensitive proportional counters and their associated positiondecoding circuitry. Earlier, at the Argentine Atomic Energy Commission, he developed nuclear instrumentation for the industrial application of radioisotopes. At present, Mr. Kopp is responsible for research and development of detectors and instrumentation. He has over 50 publications and 12 patents to his credit and is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of radiation detection instrumentation, and positionsensitive xray and neutron proportional counters.
