Biochrom Ltd was founded in 1970 as Biocal to sell and eventually manufacture amino acid analysers at St Albans in the UK. In 1972 the company was acquired by LKB and as LKB Biochrom Ltd and in 1974 became the second company to take up residence on the now world renowned Cambridge Science Park. Subsequently Biochrom became part of the Pharmacia group through their purchase of LKB and in 1982, to complement the amino acid product line, the Company introduced the now famous Ultrospec range of spectrophotometers, over the years this product range has seen the addition of many new and industryleading products.
